Jessie Reyez


A graduate of Round 11.0 singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez, came to Remix with an unquestionable work ethic and drive. Making the most of her time in the program, Jessie landed her first major collaboration with Chicago native King Louie following a workshop for Recording Arts participants. Since graduating, Jessie has catapulted her career, performing for major events such as Canadian Music Week, BET Awards and debuted her first single “Figures” on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio with the internationally known and respected Zane Lowe and Sir Elton John individually championing her music.  Jessie released her first EP ‘Kiddo’ followed up by a short film ‘Gatekeeper’ and has gone on to headline sold-out North American and European Tours.  She has collaborated with infamous artists Eminem, Daniel Ceasar, Calvin Harris, and more.  Jessie won Juno Award Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2018, Juno Award R&B Soul Recording of the Year 2019 and achieved her first Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album 2020 for “Being Human in Public”.   Her Billboard chart accolades include being the highest debut female artist in 2020,  landed #13 Billboard Album chart selling just under 30K equivalent albums and earning the #2 spot, just behind The Weeknd on her debut album “Before Love Came to Kill Us”, released in March 2020.


Remix has recognized Jessie and her mentors’ generous support to the organization by naming an annual award in their honour, the Community Over Everything Award” goes to a standout alumni that embodies Remix’s motto showing leadership by creating opportunities to support fellow alumni and the greater community.
